Fee for service
Do you accept insurance? I do not accept insurance. If you would like to pursue reimbursement from your insurance company, it is your responsibility to do so. However, I can provide a summary of services for you to present to your insurance company. Please note that I cannot guarantee reimbursement.
How long are sessions? And how often do we meet? A counseling session is 45-50 minutes. The most effective therapy is based on a strong relationship between counselor and client, as well as capitalizing on momentum gained in and between sessions. Therefore, I recommend that we meet weekly (once every two weeks at a minimum). If meetings are sporadic or too far apart, momentum can be lost and counseling can be less effective.
What if I need to cancel my appointment? When I schedule a time to meet with you I reserve the full time to work only with you. Unlike in medical offices, I do not double book and rarely will you have to wait for more than a few minutes. For that reason, when you fail to keep an appointment, you are not only depriving yourself of the benefit of therapy, but you also keep me from giving that appointment time to another person. Therefore, I request 24-hour notification if you must cancel your appointment. A charge of the session fee will be added to your account for missed appointments or cancellation in less than 24 hours. Exceptions are made at my discretion to accommodate emergencies.
If my child or teen has an appointment, will I (as the parent) be included in the session? Yes if parents wish to be included, they are certainly welcome. At the beginning of each session, a parent will have the opportunity (5-10 minutes) to update me on family life and their child’s continued adjustment to therapy and any major changes that have occurred. Parents are also involved of course in payment and scheduling.
